Durif 2014
MUSEUM RELEASE - GOLD MEDAL WINNER
Scion's house style is modern Durif - bright, elegant, with good fruit intensity supported by fine tannin.
The 2014 vintage presented a long-ripening season, allowing flavour to build beautifully in the grapes. Structurally, 2014 presented beautiful acidity, keeping this wine in great condition over the past decade.
A rich ruby colour persists in this wine. Freeze-dried raspberries, blueberries and violets jump from the glass with undertones of wet earth and cedar. Dark cherry carries through the palate, with silky tannins.
The wine is in it's ideal drinking window. Enjoy this winter with anything cooked low and slow!

93 points, The Weekly Review
Scion's small cellar door, at the front of the winery, pours some of Rutherglen's best wines. This durif is picked young and is opposite to the bruising durifs that Rutherglen is famous for. With blackberry, raspberry, spice and earth flavours, it's structured and bright with sandy tannins and energetic acidity that's rarely found in durif. (Ben Thomas)
93 points, The Wine Front
It’s dense and tannic but it also feels fresh and modern. This has been beautifully put together. Tar, saturated plum, chicory and cedar flavours make for hearty drinking, though the wine’s soft texture and overall freshness keep it from ever feeling weighed down. (Campbell Mattinson)
