Modern Viognier - a textural, aromatic, engaging Gold-medal winner.
Low yields of Viognier didn't stop us in 2021! An assemblage of our estate vineyard and Mt Pilot (grown by Lachie Campbell, just down the road) delivered a true-to-form Scion Viognier with all the hallmarks: citrus, honeysuckle, ginger, apricot, zippy acidity and texture.
Bottle age has softened the wine's youthful exuberance, while developing richer notes of preserved citrus and stonefruit within a savoury, layered palate.
Viognier brings the flavour and texture to the party with roast chicken, dumplings or a luxe seafood dish (think shellfish or oily fish).

Rowly Milhinch doesn't do mainstream or predictable. His viognier explores the 'other' side to the grape, the finer side, the more delicate and potentially more interesting side. Light lemon colour. Citrus cues light up the aroma: Meyer lemon, grapefruit and lime, with lifted spring florals and honeysuckle. The citrus/floral beat continues on the palate, bright and fresh and emphatic. Delicious.
